Dr. Harris Randel Young, 58, Of Stanford

STANFORD, Calif. – Dr. Harris Randel Young, of Stanford, Calif., died Thursday, Jan. 24, at the Stanford Medical Center, Stanford. He was 58.

Born and raised in Mamaroneck, he was the son of Faith and Dr. Stanley Young.

An Eagle Scout, he enjoyed being a part of the Boy Scouts his whole life. He was a 1972 graduate of Rye Neck School. He attended Drew University in New Jersey and continued on to optometry school at Pennsylvania College of Optometry to follow in his father's footsteps.

He moved to California to continue his practice and raise a family. While in California, he took on many adult leadership roles to help out Boy Scouts across many troops in the Bay Area.

Young is survived by his wife, Linda; his son, Matthew; his daughter, Lindsey; his mother, Faith; his younger brother, Scott; his identical twin brother, Joe; his relatives and family members; and many close friends.

A closed memorial service was held Jan. 27.
