LARCHMONT, N.Y. -- Gloria Santoro Neale, a longtime resident of Larchmont, died Dec. 20, 2013 in Evanston, Ill. She was 88.
She was born on Feb. 26, 1925 in Montgomery, N.Y., the daughter of the late Loretta and Benjamin Santoro, and graduated from Cornwall-on-Hudson High School in 1942. A talented singer, she earned a degree in voice from Syracuse University in 1946.
She was married to the late Thomas D. Neale and lived in Larchmont from 1952 until 1973 when they moved to Virginia Beach, Va. She is survived by a son, Tim, of Alexandria, Va, a daughter, Sally Proesel, of Winnetka, Ill., two sisters, a brother, five grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
She was devoted to her volunteer work at the Women's Guild of Saints John and Paul Parish, at New Rochelle Hospital, and at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Harrison. She also served on the Board of Directors of Fordham Preparatory School in New York City.
A funeral service and burial are scheduled for Jan. 18 in Sag Harbor, N.Y.
