CANAAN, Conn. - Jack Keresey, of Canaan, and formerly of Stanfordville and Larchmont, N.Y. died Thursday, Aug. 15. He was 90.
Keresey was born Nov. 9, 1922, in Larchmont, son of William and Tada Ortiz Keresey. He served during World War II with the U.S. Navy from 1942 to 1946 having served in both the Atlantic and Pacific Theaters.
Keresey began his career in law enforcement when he was appointed a police officer in Larchmont, N.Y., in May of 1946. He became acting police chief and retired after 30 years in 1976. He was bestowed a lifetime membership in the International Chiefs of Police Association.
Keresey is survived by his step daughter, Anga Lee Nielsen (Larry) of Stanfordville, N.Y.; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nephew; and two grandnephews. He was predeceased by his parents; his wife, Ollie Mae Keresey; and brother, William J. Keresey Jr.
Calling hours are Wednesday, Aug. 21 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Allen Funeral Home, 3270 Franklin Ave., Millbrook. Funeral services will be held during the visitation at 7:30 p.m. Entombment will be Thursday, Aug. 22 at 11 a.m. in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, N.Y.
