James O'Neill, 69, Formerly of Larchmont

LARCHMONT, N.Y. – James A. O'Neill, a former Larchmont and Mamaroneck resident, died July 17 in Charleston, S.C. He was 69.

Born April 2, 1943, in Port Chester, he was the son of the late James A. O'Neill and Claire Miltner Tigano. On June 7, 1962, O'Neill married his best friend, Kathleen Ehret. He lived in Mamaroneck before moving to Larchmont in 1976. 

O'Neill worked for the Westchester County wastewater treatment plant for 38 years. He then retired to Conway, S.C., with his wife in 2001. O'Neill was an avid golfer, fisherman and hunter.  

O'Neill is survived by his wife, Kathleen; two sons, James (Sharon) O'Neill, of Poughquag, N.Y., and Joseph (Kerry) O'Neill, of Conway; a daughter, Jennifer O'Neill (Christopher) Work, of Asheville, N.C.; two sisters, MaryLou and Deena; nine grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, family members and friends. He was predeceased by a brother, Bobby.

Funeral services will be Saturday in Conway. There will be a memorial service in New York at a later date.
