Jerome Camarda, 83, Of Mamaroneck, Retired From The Coast Guard

MAMARONECK, N.Y. - Jerome Camarda, a lifelong Mamaroneck resident, died Dec. 9. He was 83.

Camarda was born Jan. 18, 1930, to Anna and Frank Camarda. He enlisted in the NYANG at the age of 18. He was discharged after 40 years of service as USAF Chief of Operations stationed at bases at White Plains Armory, Stewart AFB and 274th Communications Squad in Roslyn, Long Island. He was a past president of the G.I. Civic Association, and a retiree of the U.S. Coast Guard Flotilla 73 in Mamaroneck. He was a parishioner at St. Vito's RC Church where he was instrumental in the building of St. Vito's School and Dad's Club.

Camarda is survived by his wife, Gloria; children, Jerry (Joanie), George, Barbara, Frank and Bernie (Daniella) Camarda; three grandchildren; siblings, Dom Camarda and Sara Bach; many cousins; and nieces and nephews.

Calling hours are Wednesday,Dec. 11 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Coxe & Graziano Funeral Home, 767 E. Boston Post Road, Mamaroneck. 914-698-5968. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 12 at St. Vito's RC Church followed by interment at Greenwood Union Cemetery.
