LARCHMONT, N.Y. -- Joan Coleman, a longtime former resident of Larchmont, died Nov. 12. She was 90.
She was educated at the Urseline School in New Rochelle and received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Manhattanville College in 1946. She spent her career in New York City in advertising and market research with both Roper Polling and Starch.
She was an avid sailor and until recently was the longest living member of the Horseshoe Harbor Yacht Club in Larchmont. She also was a longtime hospice volunteer and did volunteer outreach for impoverished and homeless children in the Larchmont area.
Larchmont was Coleman’s home until 2000, when she relocated to be near family in Lewes, Del.
She is survived by her sister Patricia Coleman Gehron of Lewes, Del., as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her sister Marjorie Coleman Laporte.
Services were kept private.
