Joan Coughlan, 83, Formerly Of Larchmont

LARCHMONT, N.Y. – Joan Marie Coughlan formerly of Larchmont died Feb. 8. She was 83.

Born May 7, 1929, in the Bronx, N.Y., Coughlan was the daughter of Charles and Gladys Cummings Baily. She earned a bachelor's degree from the College of New Rochelle and became a teacher in the New York City public school system.

She was married to Francis Pierce Coughlan, Jr. They lived in Larchmont, where she was a parishioner at Sts. John and Paul Church for more than 40 years.

Coughlan was a longtime member and tennis player at Larchmont Shore Club. She was most recently of Brighton Gardens in Stamford, Conn.

Coughlan is survived by four children, Francis Baily Coughlan, of Apalachicola, Fla., Ellen (Douglas) Neil, of Fairfield, Conn., Grace (John) Connell, of Westport, Conn., and Paul (Elizabeth) Coughlan, of Norwalk, Conn.; three grandchildren; a brother, Charles Baily Jr., of North Bergen, N.J.; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband and a brother, John Baily.

Visitation is from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m., Tuesday, at John J. Fox Funeral Home in Larchmont. A Mass of Roman Catholic burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Wednesday, at Sts. John and Paul Church. Interment will follow at Gates of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne.
