Longtime White Plains Resident Percy Jenkins Jr., 88

Longtime White Plains resident Percy Jenkins Jr., died on Saturday, Nov. 4. He was 88.

He was born April 13, 1929 in Orange, New Jersey to Percy Jenkins Sr. and Elizabeth Bibbon (both deceased).

Percy was brother to the late Frank, Rose, Betty and Barbara Paige of Brooklyn (living). He was a loving and proud father to the late Orrin and Kenny Jenkins and stepchildren, the late Kathleen and Daphne Esmond of Newark (living).

He was drafted in the U.S. Army in 1951 and served honorably for 17 months in the Korean War as guard and Head Chef. He returned home and enjoyed a career in the culinary arts cooking as a head chef at many different establishments.

He loved his family and enjoyed cooking and helping others in any way. He especially looked forward to spending his time participating in "Meals on Wheels" and received special recognition for his volunteering efforts in White Plains.

His final days were spent surrounded by family and friends that Percy had touched in a loving and memorable way. He continued to give to his community and fellow man even after his death by donating his body to the NYU School of Medicine.

He is survived by his sister Barbara Paige, stepdaughter Daphne Esmond, three grandchildren (Asha Eubanks, Orrin Marshman Jr, Kelly Marshman), and eight great-grandchildren (Tamia, Hannah, Orrin Jr., Alyssa, Yatzee, Tyler, Orianna, and Kelise); several nieces and nephews and a host of other family and friends.

At his request, no services will be held.
