Mary Allen McAden, 78, Of Larchmont

LARCHMONT, N.Y. – Mary Allen McAden, a longtime resident of Larchmont, died on Wednesday, July 22. She was 78.

McAden was born in White Plains to Mary Allen Dunbar and Stuart Edwin Langdoc, settling in Loveland, Ohio.

She graduated from Miami University in Ohio. She taught high school English in Ohio and in Mount Vernon High School.

After a 10-year break to raise her family, she earned a master's degree in library science from Queens College and became the school librarian at Fox Meadow Elementary School in Scarsdale. She retired in 2004, and working part-time at Scarsdale Public Library until recently.

She is survived by a son, Graham McAden of Santa Monica, Calif., a daughter Abigail McAden Rubin of New York City, and her husband, Michael; two grandchildren, Benjamin and Eleanor Rubin, brothers Stuart and Dev Langdoc of California, and stepdaughters Tonsie McAden of New York City and Rebecca McAden Hudson of North Carolina.

McAden was predeceased by her ex-husband, George B. McAden, and a brother James Langdoc.

A memorial service was planned at Scarsdale Public Library for Friday at 2 p.m.
