Mary Poccia, 80, Of Mamaroneck

MAMARONECK, N.Y. – Mary Poccia, a lifetime Mamaroneck resident, died on Monday, Aug. 24. She was 80.

Poccia was born on April 7, 1935, to Salvatore and Vincenza nee Gironda Piacente.

She worked as a secretary to the manager of Westchester Joint Water Works.

Poccia was an active member of the community, serving with the Red Hat Society, the Mamaroneck Women's Club and the Mamaroneck Public Library, and attended St. Vito's Roman Catholic Church.

Poccia is survived by her husband Ernest, two sons, Ernest Jr. and his partner Robin Stakoff, and Ronald, and two siblings, Ed Piacente and his wife Ida, and Jesse Carullo and partner Bill.

She was predeceased bythree brothers, Ray Zuccarelli, Victor and Vito Piacente.

Visiting hours will be on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Coxe & Graziano Funeral Home,  767 E. Boston Road in Mamaroneck.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Vito's Roman Catholic Church.

Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations are welcomed to either Hospice of Westchester/Putnam or the Mamaroneck Public Library.
