MAMARONECK, N.Y. - Naomi June Gedney-Cuyler, 83, a former longtime Mamaroneck resident, died Tuesday, Aug. 26, in Wilsonville, Ore.

She was born June 1, 1931, in her family home in Mamaroneck.

Gedney Park and Gedney Way in White Plains are named after her descendants.

Gedney-Cuyler graduated from Mamaroneck High School in 1948. While in school, she was a cheerleader, played basketball and was involved in the horseback riding club. She was also a member of the glee club, a capella choir and the Latin club.

She was a faithful member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church, and sang in the church choir most of her adult life.

Gedney-Cuyler volunteered with the Mamaroneck Fire Department Women’s Auxiliary for more than 50 years.

She also volunteered at the Maritime Museum in Southport, Conn.

Survivors include two sons, Thomas Stewart of Eugene, Ore., and Michael Stewart of West Linn, Ore.; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Her husband, Theodore Ledyard Cuyler IV, preceded her in death.

Gedney-Cuyler will be interred this month at the Green-Wood Cemetery in Brooklyn, beside her late husband.
