MAMARONECK, N.Y. - Rev. Charles Albert of Mamaroneck died Tuesday, July 30. He was 82.
Rev. Albert graduated from Mamaroneck High School and attended Iona College earning a BS in Theology and an MS in Pastoral Counseling. Previous to full-time ministry, he owned a carpet installation business for 30 years. He was senior chaplain and director of Pastoral Care at the Westchester County Department of Corrections for 24 years. He retired in 2008, the chapel was dedicated in his honor, naming it the Rev. Charles E. Albert Interfaith Chapel. He was pastor emeritus at Strait Gate Church in Mamaroneck where he has worshipped since 1958. He also had a counseling practice from his home office for many years.
Rev. Albert is survived by his wife, Charlotte Mae; children, Charles Jr., Gordon and Cheryle; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; siblings, Jacqueline Wise, Sidney and David; sister-in-law, Alma Ayers; many nieces and nephews; and extended family, friends, clients and associates.
Calling hours are Sunday, Aug. 4 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Coxe & Graziano Funeral Home 767 E. Boston Post Road, Mamaroneck. 914-698-5968. Funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. Monday, Aug. 5 at Strait Gate Church, 120 Madison St., Mamaroneck.
