Petrocelli was born Dec. 28, 1926, in Brooklyn, to Rocco and Gilda Petrocelli. He was a graduate of Brooklyn Tech, served in the Navy during World War II, and graduated from Syracuse University in 1951 where he was a member of Delta Tau Delta fraternity. He was a member of Sts. John & Paul church. He was an award winning art director and creative director for many advertising agencies, the last being Backer, Spielvogel, Bates. He was with the Knights of Columbus, Boy Scouts of America and Orienta Beach Club.
Petrocelli is survived by his wife, Rita; son, Robert Jr. (Anne); and a grandson.
Calling hours are Tuesday, May 28 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Fox Funeral Home in Larchmont. A Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 29 at Sts. John & Paul Church. Interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Syracuse University.
