PORT CHESTER, N.Y. -- A 91-year-old man who was struck by a car in Port Chester on Aug. 19 continues to recover at home, his daughter said.

Henwood Morley Jewell of 370 Westchester Ave. remains homebound with visiting nurse service, according to Lory Kelsey of Greenwich.

Kelsey's father is receiving physical therapy at his apartment under the ongoing care of an orthopedic surgeon, she said.

Port Chester police said the driver stopped after the accident and cooperated with police.

Police Chief Richard Conway said that the victim was outside of the crosswalk as he crossed Haseco near Exchange Place.

But Kelsey explained, "My father said there is no crosswalk in that area or nearby."

Conway said no tickets were issued as a result of the car-pedestrian accident.

Kelsey said her father had to be taken by ambulance to Greenwich Hospital due to injuries suffered as a result of the accident.

Kelsey's father has lived in Port Chester nearly 50 years, walked regularly and was in good health prior to the accident, she said.

The victim suffered two fractures to a leg and one in his hand, the daughter said.

"He is pretty shaken up understandably,'' Kelsey told Daily Voice after the accident. "He can hardly walk and has a walker now as a result of being hit."
