RYE, N.Y. -- A full moon, northeast winds and near-blizzard conditions were a terrible combination on Tuesday for coastal residents in the City of Rye.
The Department of Public Works set up barricades at some intersections overcome by flooding.
Lt. Scott Craig, Rye's patrol commander, said the following locations were flooded during the high tide cycle:
- Milton Road at Hewlett Avenue
- Pine Island Drive
- Stuyvesant Avenue near the entrance to American Yacht Club
- Kirby Lane near the Tide Mill Yacht Basin.
Craig said that factors such as the northeast wind and full moon added to the cause of flooding.
