Jeremy Winter, of Ridgefield, Conn., pleaded guilty to felony second-degree grand larceny and felony first-degree scheme to defraud regarding the theft of funds from bank depositors, according to a release from Westchester County District Attorney Janet DiFiore.
Winter was employed as a branch manager at TD Bank at 107 Chatsworth Ave. in Larchmont, according to the release.
"Beginning in February of 2012, (Winter) began making large transfers of U.S. currency out of several customers’ accounts into his own personal bank account or into a relative’s account totaling $745,000," said a press release. "The money was used to pay off the defendant’s personal loans and contractors the defendant hired to do home improvements."
Winter would "rob Peter to pay Paul" and take money from new victims to pay back older victims, according to the release. The total amount of the larceny that actually ended up in Winter's pocket was $365,000, according to the release.
The bank notified Larchmont Police and the District Attorney’s Office joined in the investigation in September 2012. Winter was arrested by Larchmont Police on Feb. 28, 2013.
Sentencing is scheduled for Aug. 14. Winter faces a maximum sentence of 15 years in state prison.
