Jet Ski Hits Moored Boat; Driver Flees

MAMARONECK, N.Y. – Hit-and-run accidents happen in every town, but in Mamaroneck they don’t always involve cars.

Around 2:15 on Aug. 2, Mamaroneck Village police were called to the harbor to investigate a boat struck by a jet ski. The driver fled the scene, according to police reports. The accident caused minor damage, including scratches to the boat. Police are still investigating the incident.

Also in this week’s blotter:

  • A Mamaroneck man was accused of trying to evade an $11 cab fee after a cab driver drove him to his Mount Pleasant Avenue home. The cab driver called police and Otto Marrguin, 45, was charged with theft of services at 3:42 a.m. on Aug. 4.
  • Daniel Smith, 19, of New Rochelle was charged with having an open container of alcohol, disorderly conduct, and possession of alcohol under 21. He was pulled over on Mamaroneck Avenue at 1:30 a.m. on Aug. 3.
  • Mamaroneck resident Omar Lanier, 20, was pulled over on Old White Plains Road on Aug. 2 around 6 p.m. He was charged with having an open container of alcohol in his vehicle, according to police.
