MAMARONECK, N.Y. One person was injured in an accident Tuesday evening after the driver of a Toyota sedan crossed over the double yellow lines on Old White Plains Road and hit another car head-on, police said.
According to the Mamaroneck woman driving the Toyota, her car began hydroplaning near the intersection of Championship Drive as she was traveling north on Old White Plains Road, police said. The accident report states the woman only saw smoke before she struck the second vehicle, a 2010 Infiniti sedan traveling south on Old White Plains Road.
The Scarsdale woman driving the Infiniti said she unsuccessfully tried to swerve to the right to avoid colliding with the other vehicle, police said. The rear drivers side quarter panel was significantly damaged by the impact, which also caused her car to spin out and hit a curb, breaking her rear axle, police said. According to the report, the Toyota also was significantly damaged.
The Scarsdale woman was transported to White Plains Hospital for minor head injuries and shock, while the Mamaroneck woman refused medical treatment, police said.
