Motorcycle Accident Closes Route 1 In Mamaroneck For Six Hours

MAMARONECK, N.Y. -- U.S. Route 1 in the Village of Mamaroneck was closed for about six hours Friday after a 64-year-old motorcyclist collided with an SUV.

The accident occurred at 1:40 p.m. on West Boston Post Road (Route 1) at Rockland Avenue. The village Police Department received several 911 calls regarding the collision.

Responding officers arrived on scene and began rendering aid to the motorcyclist, a 64 year old male from Poughkeepsie. The male with head injuries was transported to Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx.

The female driver of the SUV, a 22-year-old female from the Village of Mamaroneck, was uninjured. There were no passengers in the SUV.

The names of the drivers were not released by police. No tickets were issued.

The accident caused U.S. Route 1 to be closed from Delancey Avenue to Richbell Road until about 8 p.m.

The Westchester County Police Department’s Accident Reconstruction Team was notified and responded to the location to conduct a further investigation.
