One Rushed To Westchester Medical Center After HS Football Rivalry Brawl

PUTNAM VALLEY, N.Y. - State Police are investigating a gang assault that they say occurred in the Town of Putnam Valley at approximately 10:15 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 21.

Students from several local high schools met for the purpose of engaging in a physical altercation concerning members of rival varsity football teams, according to State Police at Cortlandt Bureau of Criminal Investigation.

Police have not disclosed names of high schools involved.

During the incident, at least one bystander who was not directly involved in the original altercation, was physically assaulted by a group of students, which resulted in him suffering serious physical injuries, police said.

The victim was transported by ambulance to the Trauma Center at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, in serious condition. At this time, the injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

It was also alleged that the victim was robbed of some belongings during the assault, according to police.
