In addition, police said a 16-year-old boy and 14-year-old girl, both from Yonkers, were in the stolen white 1997 Dodge Ram van, and police were in the process of trying to stop the van right before the accident.

Both minors remain in critical condition at a local trama center, and no charges have been filed, police said.

However, police continue to investigate what led up to the fatal crash between Stinson's car and the van at Warburton Avenue near Odell Avenue.

So far, the investigation shows police got a 911 call at about 4:16 p.m. Monday about people in the 1997 Dodge Ram van breaking into parking meters along Schroeder Street, police said. The van was reported stolen from the Warburton Avenue area on Nov. 14, police said.

Officers in a marked police car spotted the van in the area of North Broadway and Lamartine Avenue, police said. Police followed the van and attmpted to pull it over by activating emergency lights, police said.

Instead of pulling over, police said the van continued northbound on Warburton Avenue, where the suspect vehicle subsequently struck Stinson's Hyndai Sonata, which was travelling southbound on Warburton Avenue.

Based on witness statements and video obtained in the area thus far, the distance between the suspect van and the marked police car fluctuated before the accident, police said. Video also reveals that the suspect vehicle crossed over the double yellow line, police said.

Investigators will continue to look at any evidence, including possible surveillance video, physical evidence, forensic analysis and accident reconstruction. Police said they continue to interview of possible witnesses.

Police have learned that the occupants of the van, as well as additional suspects not involved in Monday's incident, may have been involved in other criminal activity with the stolen van in the recent past, police said.

The investigation is in the early stages, and detectives and internal affairs investigators are working closely with the Office of the Westchester County District Attorney, police said. Anyone with information can call the Yonkers Police Detective Division at (914) 377-7724.
