Officers were dispatched to the Heathcote School Field shortly after 10 a.m. on Feb. 21, where there was a report of a vehicle that was stuck in the middle of the field following an apparent joyride overnight.

Police said that officers found a spare tire and floor mat under the vehicle wheel, which was indicative with an attempt to remove the vehicle from the muddy field. There was also an automotive jack under the driver’s door which was also consistent with an attempt to remove the car from the field. A blue can of “Four Loko” was also on the field next to the vehicle.

Officers located the vehicle’s owner - whose name was not released - who said that his son had operated the vehicle the previous night to go to Chopt and 7-Eleven in Scarsdale, though he never returned home.

According to police, the car was parked in a Taunton driveway at approximately 10:45 p.m. the night before and the car was reported stolen overnight when the keys were accidentally left in the car, which was towed by police to the impound lot for further investigation. It has since been returned to its owner and the potential car theft is under investigation.
