Sex Offender Ex-Coach Rearrested In Larchmont After 'Dr. Phil' Appearance

LARCHMONT, N.Y. --  A former girls basketball coach at Abbott Tech High School in Danbury who served prison time for having sex with one of his players was arrested again in Larchmont after an appearance on the "Dr. Phil" television show this week, Newsday reported.

Frank Warecke, 46, of Bethany, Conn., was arrested Wednesday and charged with violating the terms of his 10-year probation. Authorities told WTNH-TV that Warecke cut off his electronic monitoring ankle bracelet in January.

Warecke and his wife appeared on "Dr. Phil" on Monday in a segment called "My Husband is a Fugitive, but I Love Him." He served about two years of a 10-year prison sentence for having sex with a student in 2003 and is a registered sex offender.

Westchester County police spokesman Kieran O'Leary said Warecke was found hiding in the attic of a relative's home in Larchmont.
