Student Hospitalized After Being Stabbed At Mount Vernon HS

MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. - A Mount Vernon student is being treated for a stab wound after an incident at the high school on Wednesday morning.

The Mount Vernon Police Department has confirmed that there was a stabbing at the high school involving a student. The victim was treated by the school nurse on scene before being transported to Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx.

According to Mount Vernon Mayor Richard Thomas, the student was stabbed in the back, though the wounds are not considered to be life threatening. The investigation into the incident is ongoing and no motive has been released.
