An employee at Macy's in the Jefferson Valley Mall worked together with a friend to steal $1,663 from the store, Yorktown Police said.
Police received a call at around 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 26 from Macy's staff reporting an employee and another person being detained for a larceny complaint.
A subsequent investigation revealed that the two, a pair of 24-year-old Mahopac residents, one male and one female, collaborated to steal the merchandise, police said.
Nik Deda and Benita Idrizi were each charged with fourth-degree grand larceny, a Class E felony.
The two were processed at Yorktown Police Headquarters and released on $150 cash bail each. They are due back in Yorktown Court on March 27.
