During the meeting, the Village will outline the plan and the work done so far. The government will also point out potential hazards to the community and show a short presentation.

Members of the Hazard Mitigation Plan committee will answer the public’s questions and recommend some strategies for dealing with hazards.

According to a Larchmont press release, the purpose of the plan is to ”assist the Village in identifying and reducing its risk from natural hazards, identify actions that can be taken to prevent damage to property and loss of life and prioritize funding for mitigation efforts.”

The New York State Office of Emergency Management (NYSOEM) gave a grant to the Village to fund the project. NYSOEM and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will also provide guidance on the project.

The Village has created a survey, which residents can view here. They can also pick up hard copies at the Village Clerk’s Office at 120 Larchmont Ave. Residents can fill out the hard copy surveys and submit them to the clerk’s office by mail or in person during normal business hours.

Residents can also email the Village at hazardmitigation@villageoflarchmont.com.
