MAMARONECK, N.Y. – The Daily Mamaroneck/Larchmont will publish profiles on the candidates running for mayor and trustees before the Nov. 5 election.

Clark Neuringer is an architect who has lived in the village for 38 years. Neuringer has been an appointed member of every land use board/commission in the village, including serving as chair of the Board of Architectural Review and the Zoning Board of Appeals. He currently is a member of the Harbor and Coastal Zone Management Commission.

Why do you want to lead Mamaroneck? I want to lead Mamaroneck because I believe we need a change in the direction we’re heading. We need smarter, more efficient government to keep taxes in check. We need to promote responsible, sustainable land use policies, not intense ongoing, never-ending development. We need to protect our environment and get our waters clean and initiate homegrown actions regarding flooding.

What is your favorite location in Mamaroneck to spend time with your family? The parks and waterfront areas. We fully enjoy having the opportunity to have access to the water and the uniqueness of our working harbor.

When is your birthday? Aug. 17

What do you do for recreation? Playing and walking with Wilbur, my dog. I take him to a wonderful dog park in New Rochelle because we don’t have one here. It’s one of the quality of life issues I'd like to work on as the next mayor.

Where is your favorite restaurant in the area? All of the restaurants in our village are really good. I especially enjoy having the ability to choose between Italian and Asian fusion, French, Turkish, Middle Eastern, Chinese, American, Dominican, Indian and Mexican. Did I leave any out? The choice is just wonderful.
