At the top of the ballot will be the New York Governor’s seat, which is being contested on the Democratic line by Zephyr Teachout, as well as Randy Credico. Gov. Andrew Cuomo did not respond to an invitation to debate last Thursday, Sept. 4, leaving the Republican gubernatorial candidate Rob Astorino to debate Teachout one on one.
In the Village of Ossining, Mayor Bill Hanauer faces a challenge by sitting trustee Victoria Gearity. Hanauer is running for his fifth term.
The Village of Mamaroneck has a four-way dance for three trustee spots. All three incumbents are running for re-election, but only two have their party’s endorsement. Leon Potok, Ilissa Miller and Andres Bermudez-Hallstrom all ran together and swept into office in 2012 to take a three-to-two Democratic majority on the board.
Now, Bermudez-Hallstrom is on the outside looking in after the Mamaroneck Democrats endorsed political newcomer David Finch in his place on the ticket.
Back at the state level, former Assemblyman Bob Castelli and sitting Yorktown Councilman Terence Murphy are vying for Sen. Greg Ball’s seat in District 40, which he will vacate at the end of his term.
