Montefiore recently opened Montefiore New Rochelle and Montefiore Mount Vernon along with Schaffer Extended Care Center at the former Sound Shore Health System facilities. No director has been named for the Mount Vernon Hospital has been named yet.
“We are committed to meeting the unique needs of the neighborhoods we serve,” Dr. Steven M. Safyer, president and chief executive officer of Montefiore Health Systems and former resident of New Rochelle said in a statement. “Having a local leader devoted to understanding the community and its care requirements will help ensure that we build the programs and services needed to continue to provide the excellent care New Rochelle and surrounding towns deserve.”
Prior to joining Montefiore, Alfano served as senior vice president and chief operating officer at New York Downtown Hospital and was on the senior leadership teams at Brooklyn Hospital Center and Saint Vincent’s Catholic Medical Center.
Alfano's business portfolio also includes leadership positions in human resources, information technology and general management at Reuter Information Technology, Mobil Corporation and Pfizer.
Alfano's appointment is effective immediately.
