Cultural Alliance Opens First Art Show Of The Year In Danbury

DANBURY, Conn. -- The Impact Arts Collection is the 2016 opening exhibition for the Cultural Alliance of Western Connecticut. It opens in Danbury on Friday, Jan. 29.

"The exhibition kicking off our upcoming year at @287 Gallery & Meeting Place will mark the beginning of a countdown to a big celebration," said Lisa Scails, executive director of the Cultural Alliance. "Stay tuned."

The collection features works by Frank Kara, and this group show also showcases award-winning and acclaimed visual artists who live and work in the Greater Danbury area and beyond. The collection draws from that of Impact Arts, a fine arts publisher in Danbury, at 12 Finance Drive. The artists include

  • Susan Dorazio, of Colebrook,
  • Robert Everding, of Brookfield,
  • Bob Guisti, of New Milford,
  • John Kane, of New Milford,
  • Frank Kara, of Bethel,
  • Laura Janisch, of Newtown,
  • Ron Lake, of Westport,
  • William McCann, of New Fairfield,
  • Nancy Moore, of Ridgefield,
  • Bob Ferrucci, of Brewster, N.Y.,
  • Michael Garland, of Patterson, N.Y.,
  • Daniel Greene, of North Salem, N.Y., and
  • Janine Wesselmann, of Naples, Fla., and formerly of Redding.

A free public reception will be held from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at @287 Gallery & Meeting Place, 287 Main St., in Danbury. To RSVP for the reception, click here.

The exhibition runs through Friday, April 15.

Note the gallery's new hours: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday and Friday, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday.

Three more visual art exhibitions are planned to open at @287 Gallery & Meeting Place throughout 2016. The Artwork of Tina Cobelle-Sturges will run April 29 through July 22. Carole Joy Creations, African American Art will run from August 5 through Oct. 28. Sheltered by Susan McCaslin will run from Nov. 11 through Jan. 27, 2017.
