William Charles Dowson, 70, Of Lodi

LODI, N.J. -- William Charles Dowson, Jr., of Lodi, on March 30. He was 70.

A combat veteran in Vietnam, Dowson served proudly as a member of the U.S. Army Ninth Infantry Division. He was a member of the Lodi Volunteer Fire Department for over two decades, serving as Chief in 1985. Dowson was a founding member of the LFD Honor Guard, and spread cheer with the LFD Comedy Team. He was also a member of the Lodi Exempt Firemen's Association and the South Bergen Fire Chief's Association. Dowson also served the youth of Lodi for many years as a volunteer baseball coach for both Lodi Recreation and Lodi Little League. 

Beloved husband of Linda (Fabian). Devoted father of Billy and Shawna, Kevin and Melissa, and Paulette. Loving grandfather of Tyler, Jake, Tristan, Camryn, Alexa, Gavin and Mia. 

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral on Tuesday 10 a.m. at Santangelo Funeral Home, 300 Main St. in Lodi for a 10:30 a.m. Chapel Service. Interment will take place Cedar Lawn Cemetery.
