Donate Furniture at Mamaroneck H.S. Drive Saturday

MAMARONECK, N.Y. -- The Mamaroneck High School Furniture Sharehouse club will hold its third annual furniture drive Saturday.

The club, led by President Andrew DiMicelli, last held a furniture drive Oct. 29 to collect smaller pieces of furniture for victims of Tropical Storms Irene and Lee. Saturday, it will also be accepting larger pieces of furniture for its annual spring drive in the high school parking lot on 1000 W Boston Post Road.

The furniture collected goes to families in need who may be moving out of a homeless shelter, escaping domestic violence or recovering from natural or personal disasters. The MHS club works with the Furniture Sharehouse, whose director, Kate Bialo, said sofas, armchairs, dressers, tables and chairs and clean mattresses and box springs are in particular need.

"Furniture leaves our warehouse as quickly as it comes in," Bialo said. "We help as many people as we can, but there is always room for more."

Donations can be dropped off in the Mamaroneck High School parking lot on 1000 W Boston Post Road March 17 between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. To review the list of acceptable donations, visit the Furniture Sharehouse website.
