MAMARONECK, N.Y. -- The sixth annual Mamaroneck Schools Foundation Junior Triathlon will feature 275 students from across the Mamaroneck School district, who will swim, bike and run to raise money for their schools this Saturday.
Students between the ages of seven and 14 will check-in at the Hommocks Middle School gym beginning at 6:30 a.m. Start times are staggered for the different age groups, with the youngest usually going first at 7:30 a.m.
The youngest age group will swim 25 yards, bike 1.1 miles and run 0.85 miles, while the oldest will swim 175 yards, bike 2 miles and run 2.5 miles.
"It's really a great way for kids to learn a little more about fitness, have fun and do some fundraising for their schools," said Linda Heaney of the Mamaroneck Schools Foundation.
The Mamaroneck Schools Foundation, which provides supplemental funds for various programs and materials in all six district schools, has funded 25 grants totaling $205,000 for the 2011-2012 school year.
