Larchmont Parents See Kids Off To First Day Of School

LARCHMONT, N.Y. – Kevin and Nicole Elden proudly snapped photos of their daughter Ashligh to capture her first day at Murray Avenue School Wednesday.

The third grader, whose family moved to Larchmont from Brooklyn one week ago, arrived early Wednesday to check in with the nurse. Kevin, an actor, said they also wanted to avoid the rush just before the first bell at 8:40 a.m. and allow Ashligh to ease into her first day at a new school in a new area.

"We really moved for the schools," said Kevin, who grew up in New Rochelle. "We were looking for a combination of a beautiful town that was also close to the city."

The first thing Ashligh, a self-described Pokemon master, said she noticed about Larchmont was that, "the trees aren't dead."

"She really likes the environment here," Kevin said.

Henry Beyrich also started third grade at Murray Avenue Wednesday. However, before school he was more interested in talking about his time spent at Discover Camp learning how to skateboard, and his family's trip to Montreal.
