MAMARONECK, N.Y. -- The Mamaroneck School District is now on Facebook.
Community members can now " Like " the district on Facebook to be notified when they post an announcement, programs, news and events, according to an e-mail notice sent out Tuesday.
"I'm pleased we'll be using Facebook as a vehicle for promoting highlights of important district news," said school superintendent Dr. Robert Shaps in the notice. "Facebook makes it easy to share short video clips on an ongoing basis, as well as links to more detailed news media articles and/or teaching and learning research that's of interest to the community. It will be another good way for community members to learn about our schools."
The district recently posted a short video from a concert held in the Mamaroneck High School's Boston Post Road gym featuring 2006 alumni Cal Shapiro and his band Timeflies. They have also posted information on student-athlete Brett Poniros , the Mamaroneck Artist Guild exhibit featuring the 25 pieces of work by MHS students, as well as the recent student exchange event with students from Beijing High School 101.
The school district said they will use their new Facebook page to provide updates on the proposed school budget as they inch closer to the May budget vote.
