Mamaroneck Schools Announce Kindergarten Registration

MAMARONECK, N.Y. - February is kindergarten registration month, and the Mamaroneck School District is looking to identify students who plan to attend Mamaroneck public schools in the Fall of 2013. 

The district has reached out to pre-schools in the area to get their help in providing contact information for families who will likely be registering their children for kindergarten in the public schools this February.

“We look forward to welcoming our newest kindergartners in the fall and ask that prospective parents complete an official registration packet this month so we may be able to estimate enrollment,” said Debbie Manetta, director of public information. 

Potential kindergarten students must turn five by December 31, 2013; they will be attending either Central School or Chatsworth Avenue, Murray Avenue or Mamaroneck Avenue schools. 

The district requests that parents come in to register their children during the month of February. “We’ll hold the orientation for parents and incoming kindergarten students in May to familiarize newcomers with our schools and answer any questions they may have," Manetta said.

Registration is a two-step process: First, parents should pick up a complete registration packet at the elementary school for which they are zoned. Packets are currently available for pickup any day during school hours.

Then, when they have completed the packet and are ready to register their child, they should return the packet in person to the school and bring with them:

  1. Student registration form
  2. Birth certificate or passport
  3. Record of immunization
  4. 3 proofs of residency: For homeowners: Deed, mortgage contract or tax bill, plus driver’s license and auto insurance card, or electric and telephone bills. For renters: Lease and notarized affidavit, plus driver’s license and auto insurance card, or electric and telephone bills
