MAMARONECK, N.Y. -- March is nutrition month and each week the Mamaroneck School District's four elementary schools will take turns hosting a "Crunchy Carnival" for parents and kids.
Tuesday, the "Crunchy Carnival" comes to Chatsworth Avenue School for a night of activities focused on health and wellness. The events include Crunchy Cafes, food experiments, nutrition detectives, fitness monopoly, eco-art, yoga and Zumba, according to the PTA.
The district wellness committee organized the health and wellness nights, each to be held from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Last year, volunteers for the PTA nutrition and wellness committee piloted the nights at Mamaroneck Avenue and Central Schools.
Volunteers from all four schools also collaborated on programs such as fruit Fridays, Halloween candy exchanges, fit Fridays, move it Mondays and healthy kids council, the PTA said.
"These evenings were huge successes in the community, bringing parents and kids together to have fun while learning about nutrition and wellness," according to a PTA press release.
The month of activities kicked off at Central School March 8. Following Chatsworth Tuesday will be Mamaroneck Avenue School March 22 and Murray Avenue School March 28.
Parents can still sign up for their school's health and wellness nights, as well as volunteer by contacting school representatives:
