The Board of Education is expected to accept his resignation at the April 4 board meeting. Dr. Lorenzo Licopoli will be appointed Acting Superintendent.

Fine's resignation is effective June 30, though he is using his accumulated leave time to bow out before that, the board said.

"It has been an honor to have served the Peekskill community the past nine years," Fine said in a letter. "It is a position into which I have placed my heart and soul. I thank the board for the opportunity and wish everyone all the best. However, at this point, I must reassess my priorities and make a change so that I can provide some needed focus on my personal life.”

Licopoli has served as interim superintendent for Peekskill twice before. He was Mineola Union Free Schools Superintendent
