RYE, N.Y. -- Rye police identified a 17-year-old Rye High School student who was arrested in the latest bomb threat at RHS.
Bryan Franco of Rye was charged with first-degree falsely reporting an incident, a Class D felony, in connection with a March 9 threat scribbled on a bathroom wall.
It was the fourth bomb threat at the high school/middle school since Oct. 21, 2014.
The Westchester County District Attorney's Office, which will prosecute the case, said the arrest was made on Monday.
Franco, a senior at RHS, was arraigned Tuesday morning in Rye City Court, and released to his parents on $2,500 bail.
Rye Police Lt. Scott Craig said, "This is still an active and ongoing investigation with additional arrests expected.''
Rye Superintendent of Schools Frank Alvarez sent parents an email on Tuesday about the arrest, adding:
"Please be aware that under FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act) and its specific rules about privacy, the District is strictly prohibited from providing certain information relative to students. In compliance with the law, the District is not able to provide any specific information about the disciplinary actions that have been or will be taken against the person or persons involved. However, the disciplinary procedures are outlined in our Code of Conduct, a copy of which may be found on the District website."
