MAMARONECK, N.Y. -- Rachel Brissette scored twice and Molly Cohen added two assists as Mamaroneck remained undefeated with a 3-0 win over visiting Suffern, Monday.
The Tigers are now 4-0 and have allowed one goal this season. Mamaroneck defeated Suffern in the 2008 Section 1 Class A championship game as the Mounties became the first Rockland County team to play in a sectional field hockey final.
Jessica Corbin opened the scoring in the first half as Cohen picked up the rebound of a shot and fed her teammate. Brissette, who scored the deciding goal in Mamaronecks win over Putnam Valley last week, netted her first of the game, assisted by Alicia Miglio.
I thought Jessica Gardiner, Jessica Corbin and Molly Cohen did a great job of getting the ball down the field, Mamaroneck coach John Savage said. They controlled the game.
Savage said Kumar was outstanding, once again, in goal. The lone goal Kumar allowed this season came on a penalty stroke.
Nina came out and took away some fast-break opportunities, Savage said.
Mamaroneck will host Edgemont, Tuesday, 7 p.m., in its first home night game.
