Bronxville, Blind Brook Class C Playoff Snowed Out

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – The Section 1 Class C semifinal playoff football game between Bronxville and Blind Brook began Saturday just as wet snow from a late-autumn nor’easter began to fall and later forced a suspension of the game until Sunday afternoon.

Bronxville (7-0) the No. 1 seed, led fourth-seeded Blind Brook 26-6 with 9:01 remaining in the first half that was played in a steady snowfall beginning at noon.

Broncos running back Christian Conway, who has rushed for more than 1,500 yards and 27 touchdowns so far this season, was unaffected by the snow-covered artificial turf, romping over the slippery surface for four touchdowns and 188 yards rushing by the time game was stopped.

The visiting Trojans scored their first touchdown on a 2-yard run by quarterback Jaime Ketchabaw after the Broncos opened with four quick scores when athletic directors and officials met at midfield and then announced, that due to the storm and predicted problems on local roads, the game would be suspended and continued Sunday at 3 p.m.

The winner of the Bronxville-Blind Brook game will play No. 2 seed Dobbs Ferry next Saturday at the higher seed. Dobbs Ferry defeated No. 4 Woodlands 39-0 at Dobbs Ferry Saturday in a driving snow storm.
