Sport: Boys Lacrosse (also plays football)

Overview of accomplishments/achievements from MHS boys lacrosse coach Jeff Barnard:

Daniel is a returning starter for defense on the sectional championship/regional finalist boys lacrosse team from last year. This season he continues to shut down the leading attackman for the Tigers' opponent.

Daniel is an outstanding teammate who leads by example and works very hard in practices and games. Daniel competes relentlessly and is a true asset to the team and community. Daniel is also an outstanding student excelling in college level courses and honors classes this year.

Q&A with Daniel:

What do you like to do in your spare time?

My schedule is usually pretty full during the lacrosse season with school, sports, test prep, and club commitments, but in my spare time I enjoy hanging out with my friends or relaxing at home listening to music.

What is your Favorite restaurant in town?

I enjoy eating at ‘Sherwoods’ for ribs and wings, which is only a short walk from my house in the village of Larchmont and offers a fun environment to have dinner with my friends.

What is your favorite subject in school?

It is very hard to choose one with all my great teachers, but this year I am particularly enjoying AP English Language because of the freedom of expression the class offers the students.

What are some reasons for your success?

Definitely, my teammates have had a huge impact. Lacrosse is a team sport and my success is the direct result of the efforts of others. Mamaroneck has great players I can practice with to improve my game. In the off-season I work out with my teammates to help prepare for both lacrosse and football. Obviously all the coaches actively involved in lending their time is another critical factor in my improvement as a player and enjoyment of the sport.

Biggest influences on your varsity career?

My parents encouraged me to participate in all sports when I was young so I started playing lacrosse at a young age. I am fortunate to live in a community that provides great opportunities and coaching support to learn the game of lacrosse. The influences in this lacrosse coaching community started with my LMYL house and travel coaches, includes my summer club coaches, and, most importantly, the coaches in the Mamaroneck School System; Jeff Barnard, Aaron Taback, Rob Rainaldi, Jeff Barr and Cory Schwarzkopf.

Person you would most like to meet?

Tough to select one person but I would love to meet John Oliver. His perspective on current events is both funny and poignant.

Other activities besides sports:
