Larchmont Foursome Swims to County Relay Finals

SCARSDALE, N.Y. -- Fresh off of their second consecutive girls’ 13-and-under 200 freestyle relay title at Westchester County Swimming Champion, the Larchmont Shore Club quartet was as it again Monday, The foursome of Emily Olson, Amelia Showers, Amanda Broderick and Haley Fullerton shaved three seconds off of their seeding team at the Westchester County Swim Conference 12- and 14-and-under qualifier at Scarsdale Municipal Team. The top 16 swimmers and/or relay teams qualified for the Westchester County Swim Conference Championships at Westchester Country Club, Thursday, beginning 11 a.m.

Olsen and  Showers, both Larchmont residents, Broderick, from White Plains, and Fullerton, who lives in New Rochelle, entered the heats with a seed time of 1:54.40. When they finished their heat, they came in with a time of 1:51.18, which was second to Westchester Country Club. The team didn’t care about the place, they were happier with the time.

“I am really proud of them,” said Larchmont Shore Club coach Kerby Louis, an Ursuline graduate and swim conference alumni. “Even when they win, they are always looking for little things they can improve on. They are a great bunch of girls and great friends.”

Lewis realized early that the girls were prepared for the race. “They all get really pumped up,” Lewis said. “When they get together, they’re electric. Nothing brings their energy level down. Their stroke technique was great. They were very excited with their time. This puts them in a good position for Thursday.”
