LARCHMONT, N.Y. - The Larchmont Shore Club and the Larchmont Yacht Club hosted a Swim Across America event on Saturday, aimed at raising money to fight cancer.

The SAA event was founded in 1987 as Swim Across Long Island Sound, and has grown into 13 swims in five states -- including a 22-mile marathon.

At Saturday's event, swimmers competed individually, or as a part of a team, and had a choice of 2K, 5K or 10K distances.

Kayakers, boaters and off-site swimmers also raised money for the cause.

According to the event web site, the Long Island Sound event had raised over half of its goal of $! million.
