Larchmont Yacht Club To Host Leukemia Cup

LARCHMONT, N.Y. – The Larchmont Yacht Club will host The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Leukemia Cup Regatta on Sept. 8 and 9 at the Sound Shore-based sailing club to raise funds for cancer research.

“The Leukemia Cup Regatta is a great way for sailors to do what they love while helping the nearly 1 million people suffering from blood cancers,” said Dennis Chillemi, executive director of the leukemia society’s Westchester/Hudson Valley Chapter. “We are thrilled to have the Larchmont Yacht Club community come together to host this event in western Long Island Sound.”

Gary Jobson, an America's Cup sailor, national spokesperson and leukemia survivor, will race on Sept. 8 to kick off the event.

The Leukemia Cup Regatta is open to all sailors, both adults and juniors, who would like to race for fun while raising money to fight leukemia, lymphoma and other blood cancers. The Regatta Committee will include starts for Cruising Division, One Designs, Ideal 18s, Vipers, K6, Vanguard 15s, 420s and Optimists.

Local retailers and businesses in Larchmont, Mamaroneck and Rye have shown support through donations, including BRGR and Jerry's Post Road Market. Major sponsors for the event include McMichael's Yacht Yard, Sound Harbor Partners, Rosenthal & Rosenthal, and Heineken USA.
