The Leukemia Cup Regatta is a great way for sailors to do what they love while helping the nearly 1 million people suffering from blood cancers, said Dennis Chillemi, executive director of the societys Westchester/Hudson Valley Chapter. We are thrilled to have the Larchmont Yacht Club community come together to host this event in western Long Island Sound.
The regattas begin at 8 a.m. Sept. 8 with first warnings (starts) for Centerboard Boats followed by One Desgin Keelboats, Optimists and Optimist Green Fleet races through the early afternoon. Post-race parties begin at 4 p.m. and include a Junior Party, dinner and a silent auction.
The Sept. 9 schedule begins with regattas for Keelboats at 11 a.m. followed by Centerboards and Optimist class races. The races will be followed by an awards ceremony and refreshments on the clubs lawn.
The Leukemia Cup committee cited its sponsors, Heineken USA, McMichael Yacht Yard, Post Road Market of Rye, Sound shore Partners and Rosenthal & Rosenthal Inc., for their support.
