MAMARONECK, N.Y.-- The Mamaroneck High School varsity boys basketball team competed in the 19th annual Zero Gravity Holiday Tournament at Keene State University in Keene, N.H., last weekend.

"We had to adjust to playing with mouthpieces, which is a New Hampshire state rule and also playing on a college court," Mamaroneck head coach Tyrone Carver Jr. said. "This was a great team bonding experience,."

On opening night, the Tigers defeated Newport, N.H., 50-35.

Alec Araula led the Tigers (5-3) with 13 points and eight rebounds. Miles Haughton scored seven points and Alex Parkinson added six points and 11 rebounds.

The Tigers played against the host team, Keene, in the semifinals, easily winning, 55-36. Haughton led all scorers with 16 points and Araula added 11 points. Dean De Lucia scored 10 points.

However, the Tigers lost the tournament championship game to Smithfield, R.I., 53-49. The Tigers battled back from being down 22-7 after the first quarter, just falling short when time ran out.

In the championship final, Haughton scored 20 points and De Lucia added 11 points. Alex Parkinson added 11 points and nine rebounds.

Miles Haughton and Dean De Lucia were named to the all-tournament team and the Tigers brought home a second-place trophy.
