MAMARONECK, N.Y. -- Mamaroneck's varsity soccer teams pulled off one-goal post-season wins on Thursday to advance in their respective AA playoff brackets.

Girls soccer defeated The Ursuline School of New Rochelle, 1-0, with a goal by Lauren Shpiz. The top-seeded team travels to Horace Greeley in Chappaqua on Saturday.

Boys soccer made things exciting with a 2-1 double-overtime victory over Clarkstown South.

Cole DiCicco scored Mamaroneck's overtime goal.

Alex Alma scored the Tigers' first goal with about 25:30 left in the first half.

Now 15-1-1, the top-seeded boys team plays again on Monday at 6 p.m. versus New Rochelle. The playoff game is home at Mamaroneck High School.

The Tiger boys soccer team recently was ranked as the seventh best high school varsity boys' soccer team nationwide.

Tigers Head Coach Rich Becker said he was thrilled with the number of players trying out and competing for Mamaroneck this season -- including 17 seniors.
