MAMARONECK, N.Y. -- Once the Mamaroneck varsity football team viewed the 2012 schedule, it was immediately drawn to the Sept. 21 game.

The Tigers would be hosting R.C. Ketcham, the team that eliminated Mamaroneck from sectional contention in 2011.

“We were up 13 points with six minutes to play and they came back to win,” said senior and captain Peter Harris. “That game still bothers us to this day. It was because of that game that last year’s seniors did not get to the playoffs.”

Mamaroneck enters the 7 p.m. game with a 2-0 record and playing staunch defense. The Tigers have allowed only 15 points. The defensive unit is focused on continuing this unyielding trend.

“We’ve come together these past two weeks and we realized what we can do as a team,” said Harris, who starts on both the offensive and defensive lines. “Everyone on the team knows how important this game is to our program. We have our eyes focused on the prize Friday.”

Harris said last year, R.C. Ketcham celebrated the win against Mamaroneck on its homecoming. Mamaroneck is hoping to add win number three Friday at its homecoming.

“We are so happy that they are coming to us for our homecoming,” Harris said.
