MAMARONECK, N.Y. -- The Mamaroneck High School girls 4x800 meter relay team broke the school record for the event at Saturday's Penn Relays in Philadelphia, Pa.
Shari Rauls, Leonie Rauls, Katie DeVore and Lauren Chapey ran a time of 9:07.91 to snap the existing record of 9:11.46 set last year with Anima Banks, a state champion runner now at Duke University, leading the team.
The record-breaking relay team includes three freshmen - Shari Rauls, DeVore and Chapey -- and junior Leonie Rauls.
Banks, who was competing in the Penn Relays herself as part of the Duke women's 4x800 relay team, cheered her former teammates on to the record.
